Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Alexandra Mehnert. Since the last European election on June 9, 2024, she has been representing the citizens of the state of Saxony-Anhalt in Brussels and Strasbourg as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). In her new role as an MEP, this is her first visit to us.

Our educational work was not new to her: As a former director of the educational center Schloss Wendgräben, she is familiar with the challenges as well as the social benefits of our engagement. At the same time, European political issues have long played a major role in Mehnert's work – she is well connected among the European stakeholders in Saxony-Anhalt.

We were particularly pleased that youth exchange is firmly anchored in her parliamentary agenda:

We must expand youth exchange in Europe as a foundation for values, peace, freedom, understanding, and democracy.

Her visit strengthens our motivation to continue intensively promoting European exchange and European youth work.

Saxony-Anhalt's role in the European Union is a key aspect of our educational work. We are very pleased to have Alexandra Mehnert as a parliamentarian who supports us in this – for example, in educational trips with young people to Brussels and Strasbourg or as a discussion partner in workshops and youth exchanges.

Thank you for the inspiring exchange – we look forward to future joint projects!
