The European Youth Education Centre (EJBM), together with GOEUROPE! and EUROPE DIRECT Halle, was represented with an information stand at the CHANCE Fair in Halle. Together with our ESC volunteers from different European countries as well as our local peer education team TEAM EUROPA, we spoke with many young visitors.

In many personal conversations, our volunteers and the members of TEAM EUROPA provided information about European mobility opportunities. Topics included volunteering programmes, youth exchanges and other initiatives that enable young people to gain international experience. The peer-to-peer exchange was particularly valuable: many visitors were interested in the personal experiences of our international volunteers.

At the same time, the stand was part of the campaign #LassReden organised by the Representation of the European Commission in Germany. The discussions focused on Europe, participation and democratic engagement – and on the question of what role the European Union plays in the everyday lives of young people.

Engagement through the European Solidarity Corps

The international volunteers support the EJBM as part of their European Solidarity Corps (ESC) for several weeks. During their stay, they contribute to different areas of our work – for example by supporting events, educational activities and communication projects.

Activities such as participating in the CHANCE Fair are an important part of this work: they create opportunities for direct exchange with young people from the region and help make European programmes and participation opportunities more visible.

Peer education from the region: TEAM EUROPA

The ESC volunteers were supported by our local peer education team TEAM EUROPA. The young people involved from Saxony-Anhalt regularly work to communicate European topics in an accessible way and to encourage discussions about Europe – especially in dialogue with other young people.
